Congress Theme: Go with the flow? Changing perceptions in balancing environmental and economic needs.

Take the opportunity to attend the 17th IAHR-APD 2010 Congress, network with peers and colleagues, and visit the exciting and beautiful city of Auckland. Auckland's temperate climate, easy access to the coast and variety of activities earn the city consistent top five rankings in international lifestyle surveys. Discover for yourself why it is one of New Zealand's best destinations. February is the ideal time to enjoy summer down under.

We look forward to welcoming you to what should be an excellent and stimulating Congress and hosting you in Auckland!

Special attention: Waiheke Coastal Walk As part of our technical tour programme, we organise a breath-taking coastal walk on Waiheke Island. You still can register for it on our website. Enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Waiheke Island with a guided coastal walk through Owhanake, Oneroa, Blackpool, and Church Bay. A 45-minute return ferry ride, all meals and a t-shirt is included in the cost of this tour (cost NZ$190). There will be also plenty of opportunity to go for a swim in one of the bays, if interested, please bring appropriate swim wear along.

Pre-Banquet Information The dress code for the Congress Banquet is business casual. The main banquet venue will be Orakei Marae. In Maori culture, the marae is sacred to the living and is a memorial to those who have passed on, for this reason entry on the marae is in a reverent manner. For women long skirts are preferable when entering the marae.

The numbers for each Technical visit will be fixed. Please sign up in the registration window, to ensure participation. The Waitakere Green Roof tour is fully subscribed at the moment.

Climate in Auckland In February, the temperature ranges between 20 and 30ºC. The weather in Auckland is generally pleasant, however it can be unpredictable. You’ll need to be prepared for whatever the day may bring. In summer, have a light rain jacket with you just in case. The sun is surprisingly intense in New Zealand, so protect exposed skin with an effective sunscreen when you’re outside. Look for an SPF rating of 30 or above.
